A niche blog dedicated to the issues that arise when supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) extend patents beyond their normal life -- and to the respective positions of patent owners, investors, competitors and consumers. The blog also addresses wider issues that may be of interest or use to those involved in the extension of patent rights. You can email The SPC Blog here

Article on ECJ case law

The SPC Blog has received an article which has been kindly sent in by Erik Vollebregt (of counsel, Greenberg Traurig, Amsterdam). It's "Aanvullende beschermingscertificaten voor geneesmiddelen", published in Jurisprudentie Geneesmiddelenrecht plus, 2007, pages 21-34. This article, says Erik, describes all available ECJ case law on SPCs up and including MIT and the SPC system for medicinal products.

If you can read Dutch, you can read the article in full here. If there's enough interest, Erik may be persuaded to have it rendered into English.  You can indicate your wish by clicking the e-Poll in the right hand side bar of The SPC Blog's home page.
